Neil Hussey was, and is, our oldest and closest friend. A true part of the family. Neil passed away suddenly in 2015 and, in doing so, reminded us all of how fragile our lives can be.

Neil and I started as Shrimp Sprinters and never looked back. Of course, in the pool, Neil was always a close second apart from an unnatural panache in backstroke, which passed me by. No-one ever had a poster of a backstroker!

Neil, in his amazing way, became Jersey and shared himself with others and his Island in an unfailingly generous way. We were lucky enough to share his time. His family are our family- then and now- and, frankly, the only reason to find myself back in Speedos (thankfully).

We are swimming to support the Swimarathon, a Jersey institution, and the Stroke Association.

We plan to crawl out of the pool!
